WWE NXT Superstar Oro Mensah took to social media on Friday, May 2nd, to confirm his departure from the company. Javier Bernal was also released, according to Fightful. The move was part of a wider round of staff cuts implemented by WWE that day.
In his statement, Mensah expressed gratitude and reflected on his dedication to reaching and performing in WWE. “15 years hard work and true sacrifice to make it to WWE. Always gave it my 110% and put my whole passion and body into the artform of pro-wrestling. Thank you for all the support! love y’all,” he
Originally signing with WWE in 2019, Mensah first made his mark in NXT UK under the name Oliver Carter, where he captured the NXT UK Tag Team Championship. He later transitioned to the US-based NXT brand in September 2022, adopting the Oro Mensah name and becoming a core member of the popular Meta-Four faction alongside Lash Legend, Jakara Jackson, and Noam Dar.
His release occurred just days after the Meta-Four group agreed to part ways during a segment on the April 29th episode of NXT television. Bernal commented on the release as seen below:
