Paige is hoping to come out of retirement and follow in the footsteps of Edge and Daniel Bryan to wrestle again.
Edge had to retire from wrestling due to neck issues while Bryan did because of his history of suffering concussions. However, years after they retired, they managed to get cleared by WWE to wrestle again.
In December 2017, the in-ring career of the former two-time WWE Divas Champion ended when she was in a six-woman tag match back at a live event that needed to be called off after she took a hard kick to the back from Sasha Banks. She was told that would not be cleared by WWE doctors to wrestle again due to her having spinal stenosis, which is the same reason why Edge had to retire.
WWE did a backstage segment on Friday’s SmackDown which featured Edge telling Bryan that him returning to the ring in 2018 inspired him to do the same. Bryan told him that should he be able to win the Universal Championship from Roman Reigns at Sunday’s Elimination Chamber event then Edge should pick him as his opponent at WrestleMania 37.
Edge asked whether he would consider that to be a dream match and Bryan responded by stating that some people would call it long overdue.
The WWE on FOX Twitter account sent out a tweet with a photo of Edge and Bryan with the caption of retirement. Paige reacted to the post with “one day” and a fingers crossed emoji.
WWE Hall of Famer Beth Phoenix, the wife of Edge, reacted to Paige by writing, “You deserve it.”
