Pat McAfee’s love of pro wrestling and his years of training paid off on Saturday night because he is being praised for his match with Adam Cole at WWE NXT TakeOver: XXX.
Obviously, Cole gets a lot of the credit but McAfee held his own and he will go down in history for having one of the best matches that featured a celebrity/athlete.
Dave Meltzer noted on Wrestling Observer Radio that they did not practice the match beforehand and they just called it in the ring, which is even more impressive.
“From what I’m told they did not even rehearse this match,” Meltzer said. “I heard that they just went in there and did it because they knew Pat was good and they know Adam is great and even then it exceeded — they did some really cool stuff.”
For what it’s worth, we may not have seen the last of Pat McAfee. During the TakeOver: XXX post-show media call, Triple H said that McAfee could be back and seems like he wants to continue doing pro wrestling.
For those of you that did not see the match, check out the clip below of McAfee doing a dive onto a bunch of guys outside of the ring.
