Pat McAfee has revealed the reason for his three-week absence from the WWE Raw commentary desk. During The Pat McAfee Show, the popular commentator explained that he simply needed a break to recharge his batteries.
McAfee has been missing from Raw since the June 9 episode. His spot has been filled by Wade Barrett and, for the past two weeks, Corey Graves. McAfee explained that the grind had been wearing on him.
“Continuing to just like kinda catch up on life as a whole. Post-Money in the Bank, pre-Night of Champions…was getting pretty exhausted there,” McAfee explained. “So, shout out to everybody at WWE for looking out for me, too. Very, very thankful.”
Although McAfee was not on this week’s broadcast, his broadcast partner, Michael Cole, did mention his name during the show’s opening match. McAfee’s last major physical involvement on WWE programming was at the Backlash premium live event, where he faced GUNTHER in a losing effort after the then-Intercontinental Champion had attacked both him and Cole following his loss at WrestleMania 41.
