Roman Reigns is slated to defend the WWE Universal Title against Brock Lesnar at the Crown Jewel pay-per-view event this week. Since “The Big Dog” made his return to WWE TV last August at SummerSlam, he has been aligned with Paul Heyman, who had disappeared from TV after WrestleMania 36. The storyline is that Reigns saved Heyman’s career by giving him a job since Lesnar left him.
Leading up to the match, Lesnar has been dropping hints that Heyman has known when he would be making appearances, the one to get him the title match, and even this past Friday night the person who he looked over the contract with before signing it.
Heyman played up speculation that he could be aligned with Lesnar and has been playing Reigns all along with a post on Instagram. He wrote in the caption of a video package that he will be walking the aisle with the Universal Champion and walking out of the event with the champion but didn’t name who the champion would be.
Heyman wrote, “EXCLUSIVE! SPOILER FOR @WWE #CROWNJEWEL! @romanreigns vs BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRROCK LESNAR ... This Thursday - LIVE on @peacocktv and @wwenetworkI hate to spoil the ending of what is the biggest box office match of 2021, but ...Ladies and Gentlemen, my name is @paulheyman, and I will be walking down the aisle at #CrownJewel with the reigning defending undisputed #WWE #UniversalHeavyweightChampion ... and I assure you, I will be leaving #CrownJewel with the #WWE #UniversalHeavyweightChampion!”
As a reminder, WWE Crown Jewel will air on Peacock at 12 PM ET/9 AM PT this Thursday.
