The Under continues to make the media rounds and in one interview, the former WWE Champion told an interesting story involving Paul Heyman.
While speaking with Sports Illustrated, The Undertaker stated that Heyman had a big contribution to his pro wrestling career.
“Being a ‘Paul Heyman Guy,’ I’d heard that for years but never thought much about it. One day I realized, ‘Well shoot, I’m a Paul Heyman Guy.’”
He then told a story about teaming with Danny Spivey in WCW with Teddy Long as their manager. Once Spivey left, he was alone so WCW put him with Heyman as his manager. He recalled traveling together and how Heyman came to be a beneficial part of his career.
Because of the friendship between Heyman and Bruce Prichard, those two opened up a line of conversation about him coming to WWE. This led to Prichard talking with McMahon about him coming in and he got a meeting with the WWE Chairman as a result.
“So hindsight being 20/20, I am one of the original ‘Paul Heyman Guys.’”
Heyman saw the comments made about him from the legendary pro wrestler. He took to Twitter to respond, which you can read here:
“The @WWE @undertaker …. #PaulHeymanGuy???? Hey, HE said it … and who would ever question the word of the #Undertaker????I am humbled and quite honored by the words expressed in this story by @SInow’s @JustinBarrasso … #RESPECT.”
