There is a new men’s Intercontinental Champion in WWE, and it is Penta. He scored a win over Dominik Mysterio on the March 2 Monday Night Raw to capture the title in Indianapolis. Following his first title win in WWE, Penta joined No-Contest Wrestling and spoke about the victory and the 20 years of sacrifice it took to reach this point.
“Man, the first thing was crazy. But at the same time, I feel like the emotion fixes it because it’s so very special for me, but the most important thing, I want to say thank you,” Penta said. “Thank you to my family, thank you to my friends, thank you to my company and thank you to everyone who believed in me because this is very important, and thank you to myself, because I believe in me every single day to achieve this title. It’s like 20 years, the hard work, 20 years of the sacrifice. But, now, this title represent all these people who never give up because Penta represent all those people. Penta represent the dreamers, Penta represent the fighters so they’re real life.”
Penta Working Through A Torn Bicep
Penta confirmed that he is wrestling with a torn bicep. In February 2025, Penta first revealed that he had been wrestling with the injury for three years. He also commented on the shoulder injury that sidelined him in late 2025, explaining that a kick to the chest years ago resulted in a broken tendon that connects the shoulder to the bicep.
“This injury was like, maybe, I don’t remember exactly. Four, five years ago? Something like that. I don’t remember who gave me a kick. One kick in my chest but, basically, he broke my tendon, from the shoulder to the bicep, and bro, it’s so hard… and this is the shoulder for the last injury. You remember that? A couple months ago,” Penta explained. When asked how his shoulder is feeling currently, he replied, “Now, no matter. I’m f**king glad. Because the gold is on my shoulder brother. The gold is in Mexico right now. No matter what happen with my body, I don’t care. This is the most important.”
One Year Anniversary In WWE
The new champion noted that the title belongs to everyone who believed in him throughout his career. “I think this is the most important thing because this title is not just for Penta. It’s for all those people,” he ended. As of today, Penta currently has no plans to step away to address the bicep injury as he prepares for his first televised title defenses.
