Over the weekend, we heard from two WWE source who now believe that Dean Ambrose will sign a new contract to stay with the company.
As we reported last week, Roman Reigns recently indicated to a fan at an autograph signing that he would work on keeping his friend in the company and management was hoping that Reigns could convince Ambrose to stay.
Well, the babyface turn and talk of a renewed push has apparently swayed Ambrose’s opinion. Bryan Alvarez heard similar rumors about Ambrose. “I don’t know for sure but the rumor this weekend is that he is no longer leaving,” Alvarez said on Wrestling Observer Live.
For what it’s worth, Ambrose will be teaming with Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns this Sunday at WWE Fastlane. A high profile match with his friends is not something WWE would normally give someone that is on his way out so they must feel confident about him staying. We’ll know for sure in April when his contract expires. Ambrose is currently not advertised for post-WrestleMania week shows but that could change once he signs his new contract, which is said to be for considerably more money than he is making now.
Obviously, if he stays with WWE, that would rule out a jump to All Elite Wrestling.
