WWE recently released several performers, including Elektra Lopez, Giovanni Vinci, Luke Gallows, Karl Anderson, Isla Dawn, Cedric Alexander, AOP (Rezar and Akam), their manager Paul Ellering, and Blair Davenport. Sonya Deville’s contract will also not be renewed when it expires later this month.
With the exception of Deville, all released talent are subject to a 90-day non-compete clause, which prevents them from working for other wrestling promotions during that period. After 90 days, they become free agents and are eligible to sign with any promotion.
In the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer reported that the “None would be considered shocks but from those in the company, Deville was a surprise, and to an extent Anderson & Gallows if only because Anderson was injured and they usually don’t cut wrestlers while still recovering from surgery.”
Anderson is believed to have another three months, if not longer, to recover fully. We wish him a speedy recovery.
