CJ Perry has officially signed a new contract with WWE. During a recent interview with Chris Van Vliet, the woman formerly known as Lana confirmed she has inked a WWE Legends deal. She addressed the mixed reaction the news received from WWE fans online.

“I’m still processing it. It’s funny, because I would say it’s been kind of controversial,” Perry said. “One of the biggest things that I had on my podcast last week was announcing that I’m a WWE legend… People were like, it’s a stretch, and they’re fighting, and then other fans are coming in and defending me.”
Perry acknowledged the criticism regarding the prestige of the “Legend” title when compared to historical greats. “I absolutely understand that there’s a huge difference between the character Lana and Randy Savage on the legend scale. I get it, but this is what WWE calls their contracts, being a full WWE superstar.” She added that her agent called her with the news, and she was “shocked” and “crying” when she found out.

Perry also shared a behind-the-scenes story regarding her romantic storyline with Dolph Ziggler. She described an awkward rehearsal session involving Vince McMahon and John Laurinaitis demonstrating how they wanted a kiss to look. “Johnny Ace and Vince show what we need to do, and they get up real close, real super close… To each other,” Perry recalled.
She noted the absurdity of the moment but appreciated the professionalism. “We’re giggling, and Vince is like, ‘No, we’re all professionals here. We’re all grown adults.’ So that already helped me go, okay, these grown men are very, you know, it is very professional.” She added that Miro, her partner at the time, was comfortable with these angles. “He’s very confident, though, he’s a man who feels totally secure and confident in me playing something that is believable.”
