Newly crowned WWE UK Champion Pete Dunne spoke with ESPN to talk about his career. Dunne won the WWE UK Championship this past weekend at NXT Takeover: Chicago after defeating Tyler Bate in a great match. Some people are calling it the match of the year. When asked about working with Bate, Dunne noted that Bate is one of his two favorite people to wrestle. The other person he likes to work with is Mark Andrews.
“I’m really glad I got to share that one with him. I had a big hand in training Tyler. I got him his first ever booking, which was against me in a tag match. As proud as I am of myself for being able to hold this WWE title, I was incredibly proud of him, as well. The two Brits on such a huge show of this magnitude.”
When asked about his dream opponent, he said that he would love to wrestle WWE Universal Champion Brock Lesnar due to the realism that Lesnar brings to the squared circle.
“It’s the realism, the way he carries himself. It’s 100 percent believable because he’s real. That’s someone who I’d love to get in the ring with someday. I don’t think there’s a possibility of it ever happening, but I’d also love to wrestle William Regal one day.”
Dunne also talked about the backstage reaction to his match at NXT Takeover: Chicago, future goals, WWE UK brand, and more. You can read the entire interview here.
