Former WWE star Pete Gas, who fans may remember from the Mean Street Posse during the Attitude Era, did an interview for The False Finish podcast on AdFreeShows.com. Gas is a close friend from childhood of Shane McMahon.
Pete Gas on being friends with Shane McMahon and being around the McMahon family while growing up:
“The one thing about the McMahons is for all their money, you would never know they had all that money. They are just down to earth good people. They treat people like human beings.”
On Linda McMahon:
“We were kids in high school, and Mrs. McMahon was making us spaghetti. She was just cooking us a meal, you know, just being a mom. She’s down Earth. She’s one of the most loving, caring people in the world. Just an absolute sweetheart and anybody that’s met her can attest to this, and anyone that’s really known Shane, and I know for a fact people have said this, Shane is just like his mama. There’s no arguing that one bit, just good people.”
On Stephanie McMahon:
“Stephanie was like a little sister to us. When we were at the house and the times we were there and stuff, she would be there. She was little Stephanie. She was cool. Everyone treated her with respect. She was like a little sister to me.”
On the reason he turned down working for TNA after his WWE run was over:
“Jeff Jarrett started TNA. It was a few months later. I was working on Wall Street. We were in talks. It was right before 911. He wanted me to come work for him. I remember him saying to me, ‘I want to bring you in. You’re going to have to say some things like bashing the McMahons.’ I said, ‘I can’t do that.’ As much as I want to be in this business, how are you going to ask me to sh*t on someone that gave me an opportunity that I’ll never be able to repay him for?’ A lot of people would say, ‘F**k that, I’m doing it.’ I couldn’t do that. I mean, call me fu**ing stupid, whatever you want to say, but I’m loyal to people. I mean, I know where my bread was buttered. I’m not gonna go and stab anyone in the back. I’m not gonna bad mouth anybody. I’m not gonna air any dirty laundry about anything. That’s the way I was brought up. So I just told him, ‘I can’t do that’, and he understood.”
