Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is officially back in the Jumanji universe. On Wednesday, the first look at the third film, tentatively titled Jumanji 3, was shared on social media. The shared picture features Johnson (reprising his role as Dr. Xander ‘Smolder’ Bravestone), Kevin Hart (Franklin ‘Mouse’ Finbar), Jack Black (Professor Sheldon ‘Shelly’ Oberon), and Karen Gillan (Ruby Roundhouse) in their signature Jumanji outfits. The film is set to hit theaters on Friday, December 11, 2026. Johnson officially announced that production was underway, sharing behind-the-scenes photos from the cast’s first table read in Los Angeles. The film is being directed and written by Jake Kasdan, who previously helmed Jumanji: Welcome To The Jungle and Jumanji: The Next Level. Kasdan also directed Johnson’s 2024 Christmas film, Red One.
Johnson confirmed that the final installment will include a touching tribute to the original 1995 film’s star, Robin Williams. “The significance of the dice in the last picture is a little Easter egg that my character, Dr. Smolder Bravestone, wears on a necklace in our final film. It’s the dice from the original 1995 JUMANJI and a way of paying homage, love, and respect to the great Robin Williams,” Johnson wrote.
The ensemble cast includes Nick Jonas, Danny DeVito, Alex Wolff, Rhys Darby, Bebe Neuwirth, and Burn Gorman. Johnson shared the emotional weight of bringing the series to an end: “Feels emotionally appropriate for our beloved JUMANJI franchise to end on this beautiful grace note of our final film.”.

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is currently signed to WWE on a part-time basis and is a member of the TKO Board of Directors. His commitment to his acting career, which includes his ongoing physical transformation for the biopic The Smashing Machine, has made a full-time in-ring return seem unlikely. Johnson’s upcoming roles also include the live-action Moana movie, which will hit theaters in July 2026.
