Miro was granted his release from AEW on Monday, freeing him to sign with any promotion. WWE is believed to be interested in bringing back Miro, who previously worked there before joining AEW in 2020.
Miro had been absent since Worlds End 2023. He signed a lucrative seven-figure deal with AEW in September 2020, initially set to expire in spring 2022. He then signed a four-year extension, keeping him under contract until spring 2026.
Despite being healthy and ready to compete, creative had been discussed for him throughout 2024, according to Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select. However, Fightful reported that the situation had gone “radio silent” for some time before the release.
Sources within AEW indicated to Fightful that Miro hadn’t been discussed creatively for six months, with most believing he wouldn’t return to the company. As seen below, Miro reunited with WWE’s Sheamus:
