PHOTO: Rey Mysterio sells eye injury storyline while backstage at WWE TV tapings

Rey Mysterio is apparently a strong believer in keeping kayfabe alive.

The future WWE Hall of Famer has been part of a lengthy storyline with Seth Rollins over the past several weeks on WWE television. At one point, Rollins pushed Mysterio’s head into the steel steps that resulted in Mysterio suffering an eye injury in the storyline.

Of course, Mysterio doesn’t really have an eye injury, but to keep up kayfabe, has been wearing a special eye patch as part of his mask that he wears on television.

Mysterio recently posted a photo of himself with Titus O’Neil while backstage at this week’s TV tapings. Although he’s not wearing a traditional wrestling mask, he closed his injured eye in order to further sell the storyline.

Fans picked up on this and praised him for doing so. He wrote in the caption, “Much love to my fam @1stphorm & 2 my big bro @titusoneilwwe 4 reppN the #619 with his #Mysterio @rootsoffight T!!” Check out the photo here:
