It’s been a few months since we’ve seen Rusev on TV but it looks like he is keeping himself in great shape during his sabbatical from WWE.
Although they have not said much publicly, the talk backstage in WWE is he and wife Lana have not been happy with their spots in the company and that is what led to them taking time off.
There’s no word on what their status is going forward with the company but Dave Meltzer reported back in June that both Rusev and Lana’s contracts are due to expire relatively soon.
I was told that their contracts will expire before the end of the year. If so, then they may be the next free agents and it’s a great time to be a wrestler right now with companies like AEW bidding against WWE to get top talent. If they haven’t done so already, WWE will likely offer them bigger contracts to keep them away from another wrestling company.
