Several months ago, it was reported in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that Vince McMahon had plans to turn The Revival into a comedy tag team. They started to transition them into that role in December when Dash Wilder fell during his entrance on an episode of SmackDown and the idea was that we would see more of that on future episodes. At one point, the idea was to turn them into a spoofed comedic version of The Fabulous Ones tag team from the 80s.
Those plans were dropped and the decision was made to pull them off all shows in February when the company realized that there was nothing that they could do to keep them from leaving.
Now, via Cassidy Haynes at Bodyslam.net, images have leaked showing what Vince McMahon had in mind for them. BodySlam.net reports that the idea was to have them wear new gear with new music and a different dynamic as they transitioned into being a comedy team. The images below were prototypes that were personally handed to The Revival during their final meeting with the chairman.
Thankfully, McMahon was never able to go through with his idea and now Dawson and Wilder are free agents. As previously noted, they will be using the name Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler and a recent trademark filing indicates that they may use the name The Revolt when they step back in the ring. As of this writing, there is no word on who they plan on signing with but it seems like All Elite Wrestling would be their most likely destination.
