WrestleZone is reporting that photos of TNA star and Olympic gold medalist Kurt Angle surfaced at the Smackdown tapings this week. According to the report, Angle was on a plane heading to New York City for the TNA Impact tapings last Wednesday and he happened to be on the same flight as WWE staffers that were heading back from the previous night of Smackdown tapings.
Angle was said to be passed out on the plane while WWE crew members took photos of him. The photos were circulated around the locker room and the producer’s meeting at Smackdown on Tuesday of this week. The report noted that Angle’s condition was the subject of a lot of conversation in WWE.
It’s no secret that Angle has had issues with substance abuse in the past. Angle went to WWE sponsored rehab late last year and has claimed in recent interviews that he’s been sober after his stint in rehab. The report implies that Angle was passed out because he was not in good shape.
To be fair to Angle, many people fall asleep on airplane flights so it’s not clear how the WWE crew would have known that he was passed out simply because he wanted some rest or because of other issues.
