Piper Niven Pulled From WWE SmackDown, Replacement Named

A change has been made to the lineup for the go-home edition of WWE Friday Night SmackDown before this Sunday’s Clash in Paris premium live event. Piper Niven has been pulled from her scheduled WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship match.

Piper Niven Pulled From SmackDown Match

In a video posted to WWE’s social media this afternoon, SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis announced that Niven is “unavailable tonight” for the show in Lyon, France. As a result, she will not be competing in the championship bout as originally advertised.

The Secret Hervice will still receive their championship opportunity. Aldis announced that Chelsea Green will be stepping in to take Niven’s place in the match. The new bout will see the champions, Charlotte Flair & Alexa Bliss, defend against the team of Chelsea Green & Alba Fyre.

The Women’s Tag Team Title Feud

This championship match is the next chapter in the rivalry between the two teams, which began shortly after Charlotte & Alexa won the titles at the SummerSlam premium live event earlier this month. On last week’s episode of SmackDown, Piper Niven scored a singles victory over Charlotte Flair after interference from her faction mates.

The updated card for the broadcast is now set. The show will also feature a United States Championship match between Solo Sikoa and Sami Zayn, a number one contender’s match for the WWE Tag Team Championship, and an appearance from John Cena.
