A new report has revealed the planned main events for the first-ever two-night WWE SummerSlam premium live event. According to the latest Wrestling Observer Radio, the World Heavyweight Championship and Undisputed WWE Championship matches are slated to close out Saturday and Sunday night, respectively.
GUNTHER vs. CM Punk To Headline Night One
During the show, Dave Meltzer noted that based on the last internal lineup he had seen, the World Heavyweight Championship match between the champion, GUNTHER, and challenger CM Punk was planned to be the main event for night one of SummerSlam.
Cena vs. Rhodes Set For Night Two Main Event
The report also stated that the Undisputed WWE Championship match between John Cena and Cody Rhodes is scheduled to headline the second night of the event, closing out the weekend. Meltzer noted that this information was from a late June lineup and that plans could have changed, but this was the direction at that time.
This Friday on SmackDown, the WWE fans will see the fallout from last week’s intense contract signing between John Cena and Cody Rhodes, as they head towards their Street Fight at MetLife Stadium.
