WWE has established a multi-year partnership with TNA Wrestling, facilitating talent appearances across both brands. A notable outcome of this partnership is the rise of TNA World Champion Joe Hendry, who last appeared on the WWE main roster during the Royal Rumble.
Fightful Select reports that an earlier idea proposed Hendry appearing on WWE Raw, potentially leading to a feud with The Miz. However, this plan was reportedly opposed by Ariel Shnerer, who disagreed with the creative direction, which likely involved Hendry taking a loss.
It was stated that “one of the ideas was that it would be a catalyst for a feud with The Miz. None of that ended up happening, but WWE has sent Ethan Page over for what we’re told is a very similar piece of creative to what would have been planned.”
According to the report, this disagreement contributed to WWE’s growing sour with Shnerer. Additionally, there was a prior situation where WWE NXT talent requested that Shnerer not be in their locker room, not due to personal reasons, but because they believed access should be limited to active talent.
