An update has been provided on recent reports that WWE was considering sending “The Nigerian Giant” Omos to Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide for a run. A new report confirms that while the idea has been discussed, the plan is not definite and no dates have been scheduled.
Plans For Omos In AAA ‘Not Definite’
In the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer provided an update on the situation. “Regarding Omos in AAA, according to those in WWE creative the idea of him coming here has been talked about but is not definite and at this point no dates have been scheduled,” Meltzer wrote.
Building A Global ‘Special Attraction’
This follows an initial report from WrestleVotes, which stated that WWE creative had discussed sending Omos to the major Mexican promotion. The goal of the potential move was reportedly to “further establish him as a true special attraction outside the WWE bubble,” similar to the brief run he had with Pro Wrestling NOAH in Japan this past winter.
While Omos’s trip to Mexico is not yet confirmed, the partnership between WWE and AAA continues tonight. WWE Superstar Natalya is scheduled to make her AAA debut at their event in Mexico City, where she will team with NXT’s Lola Vice. This follows the recent success of SmackDown’s Angel and Berto, who are the reigning AAA World Tag Team Champions.
