Police provide more details on Daffney’s death

Police confirmed to TMZ that former WCW/TNA star Daffney passed away from an apparent gunshot wound to the chest.

Daffney, real name Shannon Spruill, posted a disturbing video on Instagram Live on Wednesday night that had many fans and friends concerned for her. In the video, she was seen holding a pistol in her hand and before the feed cut off she said that she wanted her brain sent to Boston, the site of the headquarters for the Concussion Legacy Institute. Daffney had spoken about the concussions she suffered while in TNA and after her run with them she filed a lawsuit claiming that they were not helping to cover her medical bills after they promised to do so.

TMZ states that police went to Daffney’s home in Norcross, GA on Thursday for a welfare check and they were met by Daffney’s mom, Jean. Police knocked on the door but there was no answer and they left without entering the apartment.

Police say they went back a few hours later and they saw Daffney’s car parked near the apartment and they were given a key to enter by a maintenance man but the key did not unlock the deadbolt so the fire department was called to break down the door and that is when they found her body on the bed with a gunshot wound to her chest and the gun nearby.
