Things are looking a little bit better for Steve “Mongo” McMichael after being bad over the last week.
The former WCW star was diagnosed with ALS in 2021, causing him to lose a ton of weight and the ability to speak. He had been dealing with a bout with MRSA and required a blood transfusion.
Family friend and sports anchor Jarrett Payton has relayed several messages from the McMichael family, the latest being that the hope is McMichael will be home on Tuesday.
McMichael won the Super Bowl in 1985 as a member of the dominating Chicago Bears team. He was recently announced as part of this year’s Pro Football Hall of Fame class, with the ceremony taking place on August 3 in Canton, Ohio.
Dwight Freeney, Randy Gradishar, Devin Hester, Andre Johnson, Julius Peppers, and Patrick Willis are also part of the class.
Update on Steve McMichael:
