Last night on Monday Night Raw, WWE began to tease a heel turn for Dean Ambrose. They had Drew McIntyre, Braun Strowman and Dolph Ziggler say things to cause some doubt. It was pointed out that Roman Reigns (Universal Champion) and Seth Rollins (Intercontinental Champion) have titles while Ambrose has nothing. So, where is this all leading to?
If WWE sticks to their original plan then Ambrose will turn heel. He was supposed to turn heel last year before he went down with the triceps injury. This was covered on today’s Wrestling Observer Radio show by Dave Meltzer.
“Before he tore his tricep and had surgery, he was going to turn heel on The Shield when they put The Shield back together,” Meltzer said. “That was the plan. Dean Ambrose was going to wrestle Seth Rollins at WrestleMania this year. That was the plan. That doesn’t mean they’re gonna do the plan now. Doesn’t mean they’re not gonna do the plan.”
Meltzer, like others, figured that they would start in the direction of a heel turn once Reigns won the title and it looks like that is where this storyline is going. Of course, you can never put it pass by WWE to swerve fans and keep Ambrose as a face and have McIntyre turn. Many people in WWE believe that McIntyre will be a big singles star whenever he splits with Ziggler.
I guess we’ll see how things play out at WWE Super Show-Down on 10/6.
