Potential Spoiler On WWE’s Plans For The World Heavyweight Title

WWE is facing significant changes to the future of the World Heavyweight Championship, as Seth Rollins’ recent injury is expected to result in him vacating the title on tonight’s episode of WWE Raw in Sacramento, California. As of this time, Fightful Select notes the champion has not been seen at the arena tonight.

The championship is currently slated to be addressed during tonight’s broadcast. WWE Raw General Manager Adam Pearce is scheduled to provide an update on the condition of Rollins following a betrayal last week by Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed. Breakker, Reed, and Paul Heyman are all scheduled to appear tonight to explain their actions against Rollins.

WWE Discussing Battle Royal for Title Contender

In light of the World Heavyweight Champion’s injury, WWE creative has been discussing plans for a battle royal to determine a challenger for the title. The working plan as of this afternoon was for the winner of this match to enter the World Heavyweight Title picture. CM Punk is already a top contender for the World Heavyweight Championship as he recently defeated Jey Uso and LA Knight to earn the number one contender spot on the October 13 episode of Raw.

The current expectation is that Punk will challenge for the title at the upcoming WWE Premium Live Event, Saturday Night’s Main Event. This event is scheduled to take place on Saturday, November 1, in Salt Lake City, Utah. Although it is not yet confirmed that a title match will happen, it is considered likely that the winner of the potential battle royal will face CM Punk for the vacated championship.

Rollins originally defeated Punk for the title after cashing in his Money in the Bank briefcase on Punk shortly after Punk had defeated GUNTHER for the World Heavyweight Championship at SummerSlam.
