WWE Friday Night SmackDown is about to experience a change with it moving from FOX to the USA Network starting this week.
That move happened earlier than expected after the two sides announced a five-year deal for when SmackDown’s rights are up with FOX. The original plans called for it to move in October.
However, because FOX was going to move several September episodes of SmackDown to FS1 due to college football. USA signed off on agreeing to take SmackDown earlier. As expected, the company has loaded up the show.
Things announced for SmackDown include Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes defending against Solo Sikoa in a steel cage match, Kevin Owens & a mystery partner vs. A-Town Down Under (Grayson Waller & Austin Theory), and Carmelo Hayes vs. Andrade.
WrestleTix, which does a great job of tracking ticket sales for all pro wrestling events, reports the show has sold 12,478 tickets with 1,374 left. They’ve moved 201 tickets in the last 3 days. The last time that they were at the venue was for an April 10th Raw, which sold 10,520 tickets.
