The game plan that has been put in place by Triple H, who oversees WWE NXT, continues to be executed which is to find the best talent in the world and put them under the WWE banner. Whether that means signing wrestlers who have years of experience and sharpened their skills in other promotions around the world or signing athletes from other sports.
The same goal is in place for all walks of talents who sign with the company which is to train them for their playbook and style then give them a platform to show off they’re made of both in the ring and on the microphone.
The latest signing for the developmental system of the WWE is former Ring of Honor World Television Champion Punishment Martinez. He made his NXT TV debut this week on WWE’s streaming service, WWE Network when he came up short in a match against Matt Riddle. Following the match, Martinez reflected on the experience in this video that was posted on WWE’s PC Twitter account.
“Man, I’ll be honest. I didn’t know it was ever going to happen,” said Martinez. “Working close to 15 years, you kind o, don’t lose hope, but you don’t think it’s realistic and then to finally experience it? I was shaking. After so many years you don’t get the shakes anymore, but I couldn’t stop shaking out there. I think I’m still shaking a bit now. It’s surreal. I want to say thank you to anyone that has helped me get here. It’s insane.”
