CM Punk Joins Cast Of Netflix Romantic Comedy “The Bodyguard”

WWE Superstar and actor CM Punk has officially joined the cast of the upcoming Netflix romantic comedy based on the Katherine Center novel, The Bodyguard. Deadline reported the news on Wednesday, noting that the project will be led by television stars Leighton Meester and Jared Padalecki.

Punk, whose acting credits continue to grow, was listed in the report with a specific nod to his voice role in the upcoming Disney animated sequel Zootopia 2 alongside fellow WWE star Roman Reigns. For this new Netflix project, sources close to production indicate Punk will play the role of “Doghouse,” a character described as a “physically intimidating member of the security detail, who is known for his loyalty and humor”.

Plot And Production Details

The film is based on Center’s 2022 novel, which follows a no-nonsense bodyguard (Meester) assigned to protect a charming action star (Padalecki) over the holidays. The assignment leads to complications when sparks fly and secrets unravel, forcing the pair to navigate a complex Christmas season.

Expanding Cast And Crew

In addition to Punk, Meester, and Padalecki, the previously announced cast includes Andie MacDowell, country singer Walker Hayes, Noah LaLonde, and Toby Sandeman. Elizabeth Allen Rosenbaum is set to direct the film based on a script by Erin Cardillo and Richard Keith.
