WWE World Heavyweight Champion CM Punk is actively pushing to bring a major WWE event to the historic Wrigley Field in his hometown of Chicago. While the company has expanded its stadium presence in recent years—most recently holding Survivor Series 2025 at Petco Park in San Diego—the “Second City Saint” confirmed that internal discussions are ongoing to secure the home of the Chicago Cubs.
Appearing on Rock 95.5, Punk revealed that while both WWE executives and stadium officials are interested, the logistical requirements for a WWE production present a unique challenge compared to traditional concerts.
“Oh yes. I’ve had discussions with some executives, I’ll say. Yeah, they 100% want it,” Punk said. “The hard thing for us is the scheduling and getting in. We need load in and load out day. Believe it or not, it’s probably a lot easier for Wrigley to book Green Day because they don’t have the man hours for load in. They are doing a stage, some sound, and that’s technically it. You need a little more time to roll our trucks in there and set things up because our production is that much more than a rock concert. We’ve been in discussions with it, it’s just going to make it so much easier to get it done if there is no baseball.”
The scheduling conflict with the MLB season remains the primary hurdle for a summer event at the venue. WWE has a long history of using baseball stadiums, including Safeco Field for WrestleMania XIX and multiple Royal Rumble events at Chase Field, Minute Maid Park, and T-Mobile Park.
The timing of Punk’s comments comes as he prepares for his next title defense. Later tonight, the United Center in Chicago will host WWE Elimination Chamber, where Punk is scheduled to defend his World Heavyweight Title against Finn Bálor. The winner of that contest will move on to the main event of WrestleMania 42 in Las Vegas to face Roman Reigns.
