CM Punk Says He Is “Literally Having The Time Of My Life” Since WWE Return

CM Punk made a major announcement regarding WWE’s future schedule during an appearance on WGN News in Chicago today. The World Heavyweight Champion revealed that WWE Elimination Chamber is set to take place at the United Center in February 2026.

While promoting the upcoming event in his hometown, Punk opened up about his current tenure with WWE and his mindset as the champion. He expressed that he is enjoying this run more than ever before.

“Oh, it’s tremendous. Literally having the time of my life,” Punk said regarding his return. “And I think that resonates, I think you can see it. This (the World Heavyweight Championship) is an unexpected treat.”

A Mature Perspective on Being Champion

Punk also reflected on how his approach to carrying the World Championship has evolved with age. He noted that he feels less burdened by the pressure than he might have in the past.

“And, you know, obviously I’m older, I’m more mature. And I feel like I get it now,” Punk explained. “I feel like — the weight of this (title), it isn’t so heavy but I have more of an understanding now. Like, yeah this is part of the job. I know some day this is all going to be over, so I’m really just enjoying it.”

The Path to the Title

CM Punk captured the World Heavyweight Championship at Saturday Night’s Main Event on November 1 under unexpected circumstances. The title was declared vacant after former champion Seth Rollins was forced to relinquish it due to a shoulder injury.

Punk was originally scheduled to challenge Rollins for the belt. However, the injury forced WWE to alter its plans, resulting in Punk facing and defeating Jey Uso to claim the vacant championship.
