Veteran WWE Superstar R-Truth (Ron Killings) announced via his Twitter account today, June 1, 2025, that he has been released from World Wrestling Entertainment. The news comes as a significant surprise, particularly as R-Truth competed in a high-profile match against John Cena just last night at the company’s Saturday Night’s Main Event premium live event.
In his social media post, R-Truth addressed his fans directly: “Im sorry to inform you all. I just got released from WWE. I want to thank WWE for the ride, but MOSTLY I want to thank each and EVERYONE OF YOU who was along for the ride, Thank you for all the love, support, and appreciation you have given me over the years. R-Truth has had a storied and multi-decade career in professional wrestling, marked by numerous memorable moments and championship victories, primarily in WWE. He is perhaps best known to modern fans for his highly entertaining comedic persona and his record-setting 53 reigns as the WWE 24/7 Champion, a title he made synonymous with his character. His antics involving “Little Jimmy” and his general ability to connect with the audience through humor made him a consistent fan favorite.
Beyond the 24/7 Championship, R-Truth also achieved significant success in earlier WWE stints. During his initial run in the early 2000s as K-Kwik, he captured the WWF Hardcore Championship. Upon his return to WWE in 2008 as R-Truth, he went on to become a two-time United States Champion and a one-time WWE Tag Team Champion alongside Kofi Kingston as part of “Air Boom.” He also held the tag titles with The Miz as “Awesome Truth.”
