There were several reports regarding this year’s WWE Royal Rumble, Shane McMahon’s backstage behavior, and Vince McMahon making changes to matches.
As previously reported, Shane wanted to go out in a spot in the match that would highlight him. At first, he pitched going out first but ended up entering the ring towards the end of the match. At one point, the numbers got mixed up and Shane got frustrated. Randy Orton told Shane that he wasn’t going out to “here comes the money” so Shane better get out to the ring.
Fightful Select reported today Orton was supposed to be number 28 and when he was getting ready to walk through the curtain, Shane’s music played instead. It was said that McMahon went towards the curtain and expressed his displeasure when Orton sent him a “verbal cue” that he wouldn’t be going out.
It was said that the verbal cue that Orton sent him was the former WWE Champion “immediately bursting into laughter at the error, to the point where he fell on the ground laughing at the situation — literally rolling on the floor, laughing his ass off.”
Orton composed himself and went out at the number 29 spot. It was said that Orton’s reaction seemed to be in good fun after a hectic day.
