Randy Orton posted a video recorded at his home showing him on the phone with the mystery person who has been guiding him throughout the WrestleMania storyline with Cody Rhodes, ending the call by confirming their next meeting.
“Likewise, man. I appreciate everything you’ve been doing for me,” Orton said. “Yeah, I think we’re good to go. This Friday, right? I’ll see you in St. Louis.”
The video confirms the mystery caller’s identity will be revealed on Friday’s SmackDown, which takes place in Orton’s hometown of St. Louis.
The identity of the mystery caller has been one of the most discussed aspects of the WrestleMania 42 build. Orton has been shown on the phone with the person on multiple episodes of Raw, including the moment where he said “of course you were watching” and referenced “only one royal family.”
Speculation online has ranged widely. The Rock was an early frontrunner based on the “royal family” line and his history with both Orton and Rhodes. Vince McMahon became a popular theory after Stephanie McMahon’s appearance on Raw at Madison Square Garden, where she told Cody “you’re not your father either,” a line that many interpreted as a reference to Vince McMahon’s legacy rather than Dusty Rhodes’. Shane McMahon has also been floated as a possibility given his history of surprise returns.
Bob Orton is likely to be in attendance given the show is in St. Louis, and his involvement would make sense on a surface level. However, the way WWE has built this storyline across multiple weeks with escalating teases suggests the company has something bigger planned for the reveal than a hometown family moment.
