Randy Orton returns to WWE during Chris Jericho’s Highlight Reel

Randy Orton made his return at WWE Battleground during Chris Jericho’s Highlight Reel segment. Orton got a nice reaction and “welcome back” chants from the crowd in Washington, DC.

Orton said that he’s been home with his wife and kids but during the 9 months while he was out, he realized that he missed the fans. Chris Jericho, as usual, did a great job heeling on the fans and on Orton.  Jericho mentioned Orton’s new #OuttaNowhere shirt and warned Orton that he could hit him with a codebreaker outta nowhere. He then played a highlight reel of Brock Lesnar to show Orton what he will be up against at SummerSlam. Jericho said that Orton always seemed to avoid Brock even though they started in WWE developmental in the early 2000s. Jericho kept poking at Orton and asked him why he would make the “muttonhead” decision to face someone like Lesnar. Orton said that he wanted to return to face the biggest and baddest guy in the locker room and joked that he could have faced Fandango. Jericho said that he doesn’t like Orton and he’s man enough to say that Brock Lesnar will kick Orton’s ass and he’ll take him to suplex city. Orton said that he knows what will happen and he’ll have a smile on his face and after 20 suplexes, it will just take 1 RKO to get to Viperville with “no enhancement needed.”

Jericho said that Orton will pay for making that comment and he wanted to relay a message from Brock. Jericho said that Brock said that he will tear Orton’s shoulder out and eat it for breakfast. Jericho also said that Brock called Orton a “stupid idiot.” Jericho said that those were Brock’s words. Jericho asked if Orton was about to give him an RKO or take him to Viperville.  Jericho told Orton to stay out of his business and that’s when Orton nailed Jericho with an RKO Outta nowhere. Byron Saxton said, “welcome to Viperville.” It sounds like they are coming up for new merchandise ideas for Orton.

Orton will face the returning Brock Lesnar at next month’s SummerSlam pay-per-view at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center.
