In a preview clip from his interview with the Out Of Character podcast, Orton spoke about potentially breaking the record as he is already a 14-time WWE World Champion.
Orton said, "I wouldn’t say that’s a goal, no. If that doesn’t happen I’m not gonna be heartbroken over it. I think...I wanna say I’m content with everything I’ve accomplished. I’d definitely love to accomplish more. But, if for some reason, tomorrow, that was it, I think I would be able to be content with the career that I had.”

In 2020, Orton pitched an idea of wrestling Cena at a WrestleMania event where the winner would break the all-time record and have Flair involved in the match.
