Ravishing Rick Rude to be inducted into the WWE Hall Of Fame

It’s been rumored for weeks but the news became official on Monday. Ravishing Rick Rude will be posthumously inducted into the 2017 class of the WWE Hall Of Fame. Rude was one of the top heels in the late 80’s in the World Wrestling Federation and may be best remembered for his feud with Jake “The Snake” Roberts over Roberts’ wife Cheryl.

Rude was a former Intercontinental Champion and wrestled in World title matches against the Ultimate Warrior in the summer of 1990. In late 1991, he joined World Championship Wrestling. A back injury cut his career short in 1994 during a match with Sting in Japan. Rude returned to wrestling in 1997 but never wrestled again. He had a short stint in ECW, was part of the original incarnation of DX and later joined WCW as part of the NWO. He is the only person to ever appear on a live WCW show and a taped episode of Monday Night Raw at the same time.

Rude passed away in 1999. At the time of his death, there were rumors that he was training to make a comeback with the WWF. He will be inducted by Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat.
