Whether or not you are a fan of the build for the Raw Women’s Championship match at WrestleMania, there is one thing that is for sure…people that normally don’t pay attention to WWE are talking about what Ronda Rousey said in her latest YouTube video. Even Miesha Tate bought into Rousey and Becky Lynch’s feud on social media.
As noted in a previous post, Rousey ripped on WWE, the fans and Becky Lynch and many fans got upset when she said wrestling is fake and she would no longer listen to what WWE tells her to do or say. Rousey also claimed to go off script last Monday on Raw.
Everything Rousey is doing now is similar to what was done for the build for Lawrence Tayler and Bam Bam Bigelow. For those of you that don’t know, WWE was struggling to get mainstream media to take them seriously in 1995. The attendance was down and Vince McMahon needed a spark for WrestleMania. Diesel vs. Shawn Michaels was a big match but not big enough to get mainstream attention.
WWE had Bam Bam Bigelow do media interviews and when pressed by reporters, he would acknowledge that wrestling was showmanship (ie. predetermined) but he legitimately hates Lawrence Taylor.
That is essentially what WWE is doing now and Dave Meltzer said this on Twitter when someone asked him how much of Rousey’s comments are a work.
Everything she is doing is part of a plan. I've explained the psychology of the plan before. It's the 180 version of the same thing they tried to do with LT-Bigelow and other companies like NJPW and UWF style did in he past. Sometimes it worked tremendously. Sometimes not. https://t.co/OL2diU3bML

For the record, Rousey and Lynch are very close friends in real life and nothing being said by Lynch has legitimately offended Rousey and WWE is not upset at Rousey for what she has been saying lately. Rousey is doing everything to get the fans to hate her because the goal is to make Rousey and Charlotte Flair bigger stars at WrestleMania. As of now, Rousey is scheduled to take time off from the company and she is not scheduled for any WWE shows after the post-WrestleMania edition of Monday Night Raw.
WWE is getting exactly what they want with Rousey. Several TV outlets picked up Rousey’s comments today. TMZ Live also did a segment on it and her comments were picked up on radio shows in several markets across the country.
