Drew McIntyre received a storyline suspension on WWE SmackDown after a chaotic main event. According to Wrestling Observer Radio, McIntyre is being written off television as he is taking time off to film a movie.
SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis handed down the suspension at the end of the November 7 broadcast. The night began with WWE Champion Cody Rhodes celebrating his successful title defense against McIntyre at Saturday Night’s Main Event. Aleister Black and Zelina Vega interrupted, with Black stating he was ready for a new challenge. After Vega slapped Rhodes, Aldis booked a non-title match between Rhodes and Black for the main event.
The main event was a back-and-forth contest until McIntyre interfered. As referee Dan Engler was administering a 10-count to both competitors, McIntyre entered the ring and laid out the official with a Claymore kick, causing a no-contest.
A brawl erupted post-match between Rhodes and McIntyre. Black soon got involved, leading to a two-on-one attack on the champion. Damian Priest, who had not been seen since losing a Last Man Standing match to Black last month, then made his return to even the odds. As all four men brawled, Aldis came to the stage and, frustrated with McIntyre’s actions, suspended him indefinitely.
