Reason why a certain WWE star was not at SmackDown at the Performance Center

There are some fans wondering why Paige did not appear live in the ring on WWE Friday Night SmackDown. Last week, a decision was made for her not to travel to the show so her appearance was delayed until this week.

She appeared via Skype from California to announce the Six-Pack Challenge Match featuring Bayley defending her SmackDown Women’s Championship at WrestleMania.

PWInsider reported that Paige was ready to head out to the airport but a late decision was made for her to stay home and call into the show via Skype video.

Dave Meltzer gave an update on why Paige was not at the show on Sunday’s Wrestling Observer Radio.

“The deal there was that Paige made the announcement by Skype because she didn’t come,” Meltzer said.

Meltzer also said that both WWE and AEW have told wrestlers that they are free to stay home without consequences if they don’t feel safe traveling.

Meltzer said, “She was not one of those who was willing to come. There have been other people not willing to come and both companies have been really good about it.”

Both wrestling companies should be commended for how they have handled everything with all of the cancelations. It looks like wrestlers will not have to worry about travel for a while because WWE will be taping upcoming Raw and SmackDown episodes this week. WrestleMania will be taped later in the week and this week’s tapings will also cover the Raw after Mania. Click here for updates on the taping schedule.
