Reason why Brock Lesnar did not appear during WWE Raw tribute to Bruno Sammartino

WWE did an excellent job on Monday Night for their tribute to Bruno Sammartino. They produced a video with awesome career highlights and rare footage from the documentary that aired on the WWE Network. They also aired tributes throughout the show. The show kicked off with the roster on stage while the bell tolled 10 times.

It was a fitting tribute to one of the biggest names in the history of professional wrestling. Some fans on social media wondered why Paul Heyman and Brock Lesnar did not appear during the tribute.

On a recent edition of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer freestyled and said that it was probably a decision made by management as a way to protect Lesnar since he has different rules than the rest of the roster. It’s similar to how The Undertaker would often not appear on stage during tributes or at Hall Of Fame ceremonies. Either way, there was no disrespect meant.

In fact, Heyman has a history with Sammartino. He got his break in the wrestling business by sneaking into Madison Square Garden as a photographer and he would take photos during Sammartino’s matches. Heyman grew up watching Sammartino and had many great things to say about him during the documentary that aired on the WWE Network.

Hopefully, this post will help silence some of the speculation that has been going around online.
