The past two weeks of WWE Monday Night Raw hasn’t featured Kevin Owens.
As a result, there have been some fans wondering why he hasn’t been used. WWE taped two episodes of Raw back on July 20th from Orlando, Florida at the WWE Performance Center. An episode aired that night and the second episode aired this past Monday night.
Dave Meltzer reported in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that Owens was at the tapings and “he had been written into the original shows but with all the changes made, they decided not to use him.”
Meltzer thought the key was that since WWE wanted to do injury angles with Aleister Black on both shows then the feeling was that Owens would have to do run-ins to save Black being injured by Seth Rollins and Murphy.
Melzer added, “They didn’t feel the need to sacrifice him in angles like that.”
Owens was last in action when he beat Murphy in a singles match on the kickoff show for the WWE Extreme Rules pay-per-view event earlier this month.
WWE will be back at the Performance Center this coming Monday for another set of TV tapings.
