Reason why Matt Hardy is booked for this Monday’s WWE Raw

As noted earlier, Matt Hardy is scheduled to wrestle Randy Orton this Monday Night on WWE Raw. This comes on the heels of Matt being written off television this past Monday in an angle with Randy Orton.

Matt did not know that he would be appearing on Raw until last night so the decision was not made until roughly 24 hours ago. In a tweet sent from her private Twitter account, Reby Hardy tweeted out a “LOL” cryptic GIF so that may be when they found out that WWE wanted Matt on Raw.

The situation is similar to what happened with Jon Moxley (Dean Ambrose). He was on his way out and he was written off several times but Vince McMahon would make the call to bring him back for another week to maximize ratings. The Matt Hardy/Randy Orton segment from Monday was one of the biggest quarter hours this week so WWE hopes to get a big quarter-hour from them this coming Monday.

As previously noted, the issues with Matt are not related to money since WWE has made a generous offer to him. The issues are more related to creative as Matt knows his next contract could be his last as an in-ring performer.

Matt’s current WWE deal is set to expire on March 1st and many people in the company expect him to test free agency with All Elite Wrestling believed to be the frontrunner to sign him to a full-time contract.
