Reason why Matt Riddle is not in trouble for mentioning Brock Lesnar at WWE NXT live event

Despite the reports of backstage heat on Matt Riddle, it looks WWE has no issues with him calling out Brock Lesnar.

As noted on Sunday, Riddle grabbed the microphone at the NXT live event in Las Vegas on Saturday and he said again what he’s been saying for months — that he will get his hands on Lesnar and he will retire him.

Most of you know the story by now — Riddle and Lesnar were involved in a verbal altercation while backstage at the Royal Rumble and, as the story goes, Lesnar told Riddle that he has no plans to ever work with him. Later that night, WWE filmed Riddle after he was eliminated from the Men’s Royal Rumble match and he had more words for Lesnar. That video is up on the Performance Center YouTube channel.

Dave Meltzer reported on the Wrestling Observer website that, from what he was told, WWE NXT gave Riddle permission to follow up on the Lesnar stuff on Saturday night.

So, if you are one of those who believes the Lesnar/Riddle stuff is a worked shoot, then you might be onto something. Again, if this match happens then it probably won’t happen for a while since Lesnar is currently scheduled to defend the WWE Championship against Drew McIntyre at WrestleMania in Tampa.
