WWE originally advertised Veer Mahaan vs. Rey Mysterio for Monday’s Raw, but Rey wasn’t on the show and his son, Dominik, took his place in the quick squash match. The storyline leading up to the match was Rey looking to get revenge after Veer attacked Rey and Dominik last week.
Following the match, Veer continued the attack, and Dominik was shown being placed on a stretcher before being taken away in an ambulance. This appears to be a way to write Dominik off television. There was no mention of Rey on the show.
On Today’s episode of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer noted that Mysterio was absent from Raw due to a medical issue.
“Yeah, he’s a medical issue. It’s not false advertising or they changed their mind. It was he was unavailable tonight. So they put Domnick in the place and got destroyed.”
Meltzer speculated that they can book Veer vs. Rey in a week or two so it doesn’t sound like the issue will keep Rey out of action for a long time.
