Rey Mysterio’s run after returning to WWE a few months ago has been lackluster but fans are puzzled on why he was dominated in such a short match at WrestleMania 35.
The reason is simple. WWE made the call and it was for a good reason. Mysterio told WWE management that his ankle was healing up fine after he was injured last week during his match with Baron Corbin. There was a concern as late as Wednesday about his status for his match but the decision was made that the match would happen as scheduled. Mysterio was seen walking around at Axxess over the weekend without a limp so all seemed to be fine with him.
However, the decision to cut the match short was done as a precaution. WWE management decided to do it that way so they could avoid causing serious injury to his ankle. On the bright side, the door is open for Joe vs. Mysterio rematches on future pay-per-views.
