There has been a lot of speculation on the Casket Match that is scheduled to take place next week at The Greatest Royal Rumble show. Within a span of a few days, Rusev was removed from the match and replaced with Chris Jericho. Then, on Monday afternoon, it was announced that Rusev was back in the match.
There was some speculation that Rusev’s “bury me softly” comment on Twitter upset someone in management. It turns out that none of the speculation going around online is true and it was simply that Vince McMahon changed his mind. Perhaps, they’ve sold enough tickets that they no longer need Jericho vs. Taker.
On Tuesday’s Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer talked about the recent changes to the Casket Match. He said, “All it was is they changed their mind again. I guess it doesn’t really matter in the grand scheme of things but Rusev should be a babyface.”
Meltzer went on to talk about how WWE has a big-time babyface on their hands with Rusev but it seems like they are botching everything with him. Jericho is still scheduled to be at the show in Saudi Arabia. He will be one of the men in the 50-Man Greatest Royal Rumble match.
