Dave Meltzer noted that Zayn hasn’t been wrestling on TV because of a creative decision and not because of an injury, although he has dealt with shoulder issues in the past.
Although Zayn hasn’t been wrestling on TV as of late, he has done so on some live events in recent months. He wrestled on some shows in December as part of 6-man tag team matches with Shinsuke Nakamura and Cesaro as his partners. He also wrestled on two live events last month. His last singles match was in October.
Aside from the creative decision, it’s possible that WWE and Zayn want to limit his bumps due to his history of shoulder issues. As of now, he continues to act in a managerial role for Cesaro and Nakamura.
Don’t expect anything to change with Zayn’s status this month since WWE is building towards Super ShowDown and Zayn is not expected to fly out to Saudi Arabia for that show. In related news, click here for spoiler news on the Super ShowDown main event.
