It turns out that Zayn was dealing with an injury. Dave Meltzer reported in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that Zayn had been having trouble with his shoulders in recent months.
Thus, this is why he has been wrestling less and was put with Nakamura as his mouthpiece, who talks for him.
As of this writing, there’s no word yet on when Zayn will return to in-ring action on a regular basis. The good news is the fact that it was noted Zayn is okay and medically cleared to wrestle. However, he could stay out of action on television because his current role is what WWE has planned for him.
Zayn has worked some live events since being put with Nakamura. Some of the matches he has worked include wrestling Buddy Murphy while WWE was in Australia last month
Zayn hasn’t wrestled regularly on TV since August on RAW to Samoa Joe and Cedric Alexander.
Back on the August 20th episode of SmackDown, WWE officially paired Zayn with Nakamura during a Miz TV segment.
