Whenever WWE signs an established talent from another promotion where they’ve made a name for themselves, there is always the question of whether they will use their ring name.
WWE usually likes to create a new name for someone so they can own the IP for it and retain the rights should the talent leave the promotion.
Stephanie Vaquer, real name Ana Stephanie Vaquer González, is slated to make her first appearance for WWE on Saturday at a show in Mexico. Dave Meltzer noted in the daily update that WWE is not planning on changing her name. It’s always possible that things will change in the future.
Vaquer left CMLL and NJPW for WWE after receiving interest from AEW. She has been stripped of the CMLL World and Tag Team Titles. She became someone of interest for WWE after she dropped the NJPW Strong Women’s Title to Mercedes Mone at Forbidden Door last month.
As previously reported, CMLL and NJPW were upset with how Vaquer handled her departure, as she had planned dates with them and other promotions that she canceled to go to WWE.
